The Chain of Life
My Animal Behavior lecturer sure is student savvy. He knows that we simply can't just sit down and listen to a lecture right after a test, so what he does is let us watch a documentary. I did ok for the test, only had a couple of questions that I wasn't sure of.
Anyway, the film was called The Chain of Life, I think! It was about the vast variety of mating systems in the animal kingdom. Did you know that barnacles have the largest penis to body length ratio? :P They are also hermaphroditic, meaning they have both male and female reproductive organs. Then there are fish that can change sex. There was also stuff about polygamus animals that have harems. Usually it's 1 male to many females, but for some it's the other way round. Hmmm... :P And of course, there was the ultimate symbol of monogamy, the albatross. These beautiful birds mate for life, which can be over 60 years!
